SuperKart is original rock and roll the way it was meant to be- guitar driven and infectious, with no holds barred. The band is led by Western Massachusetts guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Sue Burkhart. SuperKart also includes J.J. O’Connell on drums, Adrianne Fielding on vocals, and Jim Weeks on bass, keyboards, and guitars. The band has packed the house at local venues, including The Iron Horse Music Hall, the Bay State Hotel, the Flywheel, The People’s Pint, and the Fire and Water Café. SuperKart recently released a CD project entitled she doesn’t have to know, which was recorded and produced by Jim Weeks at Cloudcuckooland in Northampton.

Before fronting SuperKart, Sue Burkhart went through a variety of musical incarnations. While getting a Master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, Sue was one of the original founders of the Connecticut Classical Guitar Society. She self-produced and released two CD projects- Fonkee Monkee and Better Than Fun- which featured her own solo guitar compositions. In 1999, Sue released her debut singer-songwriter CD, Chasing My Tale. Since 1988, Sue has been on the music faculty at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, and has taught at the Community Music School of Springfield since 1987. Sue was a featured instructor and performer at the 1998 National Guitar Summer Workshop in New Milford, CT.

Sue has opened for and appeared with artists ranging from Adrian Legg, Preston Reed, and Ani DiFranco to Howard Levy and Trio Globo, and has been a guest artist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Consort. Sue’s radio appearances have included “Open Air New England” with Faith Middleton on National Public Radio and “Up the Creek” with Johnny Memphis on WRSI, Greenfield, MA. Some of Sue’s television appearances have been on Connecticut Public Television, Greenfield and Northampton public television stations, and on WWLP, a Springfield, MA NBC affiliate.
