Group DeVille has shared local stages with local luminaries like Ray Mason, SuperKart, School for the Dead, The Fawns, Mudpony, The Aloha Steamtrain, and Janet Ryan, to name but a few. The band appeared at WestfieldÕs Taste of the World festival in 2001, along with John Cafferty and NRBQ, and performed with dozens of great bands at the 2002 Northampton Music Festival. In February of 2003, they played in a tribute to the late Joe Strummer, with that show kicking off a busy year for the band.
They've headlined at Harry's in Northampton, and at Theodores in Springfield, but you never know where they'll show up next. Could be a private party at UMass, could be a benefit concert in Pulaski Park. Once in awhile they even rent out the Haydenville Legion, back on their home turf (three of the guys are from Williamsburg), and throw a party for the neighbors. Don't miss it when they do!
GDV has released two CDs: an EP, "Six from Five" in 2001, and the album "Hold No Illusions" in 2002. Current plans call for recording an old-school "studio-live" disc in the Fall of 2003.
If you happen to be a fan of The Kinks, Tom Petty, The Jam, The Byrds, Robyn Hitchcock, Steely Dan, Pete Townshend, Wilco, Traffic, Badfinger, Cream, Joe Jackson, XTC, George Harrison, The Zombies, The Troggs, Carl Perkins, Elvis (either one!), Duke Ellington, and the Traveling Wilburys, you might just like Group DeVille.
