Drunk Stuntmen formed in Montague, MA in the winter of 1992. In the band's early years they played their original music in and around the Pioneer Valley. This quickly earned them a loyal following and they consistently performed in front of sold out audiences. In 1995 they released their 7-inch e.p. followed by a self-financed coast-to-coast tour. By 1996 they added a piano player which helped define the unique sound they have today.

1997's independent release, "Taking My Pee Pants Off" would draw heavily on their newfound country-rock style. Recorded in a basement using a low-fi approach helped give it that rootsy whiskey-still sound. The album did well on college radio stations throughout the Northeast and placed at number 30 on the CMJ music charts.

In 1998 the band entered the studio of verteran Valley producer Mark Alan Miller and produced "More Bad News", a 15 song album complete with a horn section and psycadelic asides..
